CALL TO WORSHIP
Come before the Lord in holy worship.
We come asking that our lives be remade and our priorities reordered.
Open your hearts and God will open your lives to His way.
We are ready Lord. Make known to us Your will.
HYMN: 132 “Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty”
INVOCATION
Into Your presence we come, O God of love and hope. Inspire us with the gift of Your most Holy Spirit as we gather here today. Empower us with a sense of anticipation as to what it is You will be doing among us in this sacred time and in this sacred place. In the name and the spirit of Christ our Lord we pray. Amen!
RESPONSIVE READING Psalm 116: 1-2, 12-19 (Page 605)
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Merciful God, our maker and our judge, we have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed: we have not loved You with our whole heart, we have not loved our neighbour as ourselves; we repent and are sorry for all our sins.
Father forgive us, strengthen us to love and obey You in newness of life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen!
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
The good news in Christ is that when we face ourselves and God with the awareness of our need, we are given grace to grow, and courage to carry on the journey. Friends, believe the good news of the gospel.
In Jesus Christ we are forgiven! Amen.
INTERCESSION
Lord our Father, almighty and everlasting God, we thank You for bringing us safely to this day: keep us by Your mighty power, and grant that today we fall into no sin, neither run into any kind of danger, but lead and govern us in all things, that we may always do what is righteous in Your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. Amen!
PRAYER OF FORGIVENESS
O Lord, who hast mercy upon all, take away from me my sins, and mercifully kindle in me the fire of Your Holy Spirit.
Take away from me the heart of stone, and give me a heart of flesh, a heart to love and adore You, a heart to delight in You, to follow and to enjoy You, for Christ’s sake. Amen! Ambrose of Milan (339-33-97)
TIME TO PRAY
In silence, please offer your prayers to the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus.
THE LORD’S PRAYER
HYMN: “Sing Them Over Again”
A PRAYER BEFORE READING THE SCRIPTURES
Lord, who can grasp all the wealth of just one of Your words?
What we understand in the Bible is much less than what we leave behind, like thirsty people who drink from a fountain.
For Your word has many shades of meaning, just as those who study it have many different points of view.
You have coloured Your words with many hues so that each person who studies it can see in it what he loves.
You have hidden many treasures in Your word so that each of us is enriched as we meditate on it. Amen. (Ephrem the Syrian 306-373)

PRAYER
If we had a fraction of the faith in You that You have in us,
Then this world would be transformed, Lord.
If we showed a fraction of the love that You show to us,
Then this world would be transformed, Lord
If we possessed a fraction of the patience that You display with us,
Then this world would be transformed, Lord.
If we shared just a portion of the blessings that we have received from You,
Then this world would be transformed, Lord.
If we showed as much trust in others as You have shown in us,
Then this world would be transformed, Lord.
If we claimed just a fraction of the power You promised to your Church,
Then this world would be transformed, Lord.
Transform us first, Lord, that we might transform this world,
Through your love and your power.
HYMN: 781 “Father Bless Us as We Go”
BLESSING
The LORD watches over you – the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
The LORD will keep you from all harm – he will watch over your life;
The LORD will watch over your coming and going, now and forever.
Amen!
