CALL TO WORSHIP
Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy.
How awesome is the Lord Most High the great King over all the earth!
He subdued nations under us, peoples under our feet.
He chose our inheritance for us, the pride of Jacob, whom he loved.
God has ascended amid shouts of joy and the sounding of trumpets.
Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises.
For God is the King of all the earth; sing to Him a psalm of praise.
God reigns over the nations; God is seated on His holy throne.
The nobles of the nations assemble as the people of the God of Abraham, for the kings of the earth belong to God; He is greatly exalted. (Psalm 47)
PRAYER
We come to celebrate Christ’s ascension, our Father. We remember that His physical removal from earth made possible the coming of the Holy Spirit who is our companion at all times and in all places. We glorify God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit. One God, in three manifestations. Therefore, we thank You, God, that You are ever-present and ever blessing us. In Christ’s name. Amen.
HYMN: 147 “To God Be The Glory”
RESPONSIVE READING – Psalm 98 (Pages 592-593)
CONVOCATION
In every beginning, in every moment, God may surprise us with new possibilities, new courage and wisdom and new dimensions of faith.
This is our God, Creator, Christ and Holy Spirit.
Let us be the people of God this day.
A LITANY FOR ASCENSION DAY
Based on Texts from J. S. Bach’s Cantana “Gott fahret auf mit Jauchzen” By David J. Diephouse
Our God goes up with shouts of joy!
Our Lord ascends to the sound of trumpets!
Sing praises to our God, sing praises!
Sing praises, sing praises to our King!
The Almighty rides in triumph.
The Almighty leads captivity captive.
Who shouts for joy? Who blows the trumpet?
The hosts of heaven sing the honour of his name; they praise Him with an endless alleluia.
Sing praises to our God, sing praises!
Sing praises, sing praises to our King!
The Lord has brought down death itself.
The Lord has wiped away the stain of sin.
The Lord has trodden the winepress of suffering; He has paid the price to rescue the lost.
Now He returns to His throne of glory; the hour has come to reclaim His crown.
Sing praises to our God, sing praises!
Sing praises, sing praises to our King!
Jesus Christ, the Prince of Life, now reigns in heaven with the Father.
Jesus Christ, the Prince of Life, now rules in the congregation of the righteous.
Ascended Lord, how can we honour You enough?
Ascended Lord, how can we rightly praise the victory You have won?
Prepare us for that welcome day when we shall behold You in all Your majesty.
Prepare us for that welcome day when we shall stand before You and rejoice forever.
Sing praises to our God, sing praises!
Sing praises, sing praises to our King!

Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
MEMORIAL PRAYER
Holy God, with this bread and with this cup, we do as our Saviour has commanded; we celebrate the redemption He has won for us.
For as often as we eat this bread and drink from this cup, we proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.
Receive our praise, God almighty, through Jesus Christ our Lord, with whom and in whom by the power of the Holy Spirit, we worship You in songs of never-ending praise:
Blessing, honour, glory and power are Yours for ever and ever. Amen!
BREAKING THE BREAD & SERVING THE BREAD & THE CUP
We break this bread and take this cup so that we can share in the life of Christ. God’s gifts for God’s people.
Take in faith this Holy Sacrament in remembrance that He died for you, and feed on Him in your hearts with thanksgiving.
DISMISSAL
Loving God, we offer ourselves to You as a living sacrifice through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Send us out in the power of the Holy Spirit to live and work to Your praise and glory. Amen!
