CALL TO WORSHIP
Let us worship God.
The world belongs to God, the earth and all its people.
Love and peace come together, justice and peace join hands.
How good and how lovely it is to live together in unity.
If the Lord’s disciples keep silent these stones would shout aloud.
Lord, open our lips and our mouths shall proclaim your praise.
HYMN: 147 “To God Be the Glory”
PRAYER OF ADORATION
Ever-living God, You are infinite, yet compassionate; in You we live, and move, and have our being. One with us in Jesus Christ, You share our life and our death; flowing through us as living water, You quench our thirst. Holy One, we adore You; Holy Wisdom, we adore You; Holy Spirit, we adore You; accept the praise we bring today and for ever. Amen!
INVOCATION
Come to us, O God of surprising grace. Break into the places in our lives which we think are not worthy of Your entry and show us the measure of Your love for us. Break through into newness in all our life together, O God, in the wonder of Your transforming presence. Amen!
HYMN: 693 “Come as You Are: That’s How I want You”
CONFESSION
We come to God, knowing that we have failed to obey the call of Jesus to love God and one another with our whole being; but we come also to a God who reaches out to us with healing and reconciliation.
Let us pray: God of all mercy, give us grace today to make a fresh start.
We know we have not loved You with our whole heart, nor have we loved our neighbour as ourselves.
As we hope to be forgiven, teach us how to forgive; and lead us forward in a new life where neither grudges nor resentment have a part; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen!
Let us pray:
For our misuse of Your creation, Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.
For our failure to love as You have loved us, Christ, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.
For our lack of faith in Your gift of life, Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.
DECLARATION OF FORGIVENESS
In the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom; for God’s foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God’s weakness is stronger than human strength.
Hear then Christ’s word of grace to us: ‘Your sins are forgiven’.
Thanks be to God.
DOXOLOGY (to be sung with the tune of 768i)
Praise God, the Source of life and birth;
praise God, the Word, who came to earth;
praise God, the Spirit, holy flame;
all glory, honour, to God’s name.
THE APOSTLES’ CREED (Standing)
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried;
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
He ascended into heaven,
He is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen!

PRAYER OF INTERCESSION
God of power and wisdom, give Your people the blessing of peace.
Lord, Your Son, Jesus Christ took Your commandments and deepened their understanding.
Transform our hearts to show our love for You by walking more fully in Your ways …
May we choose Your abundant life.
Lord, You call Your people to be reconciled and refrain from hate-filled talk.
Bring healing to all places of conflict and division …
May Your fire and water purge and renew the nations of the earth.
Lord, purify Your people to look upon one another with respect and honour.
Forgive our debased and vulgar abuse of our brothers and sisters …
Restore us in Your image and dignity.
Lord, the weight of broken relationships presses upon Your people.
Break the chains that oppress, and bring in Your liberation …
Set us free to praise Your name.
Lord, You set before us the hope of life everlasting.
In this confidence we entrust to You those who have died …
Fulfil Your promise of redemption. Amen!
HYMN: 623 “Lord Christ, True Peace of All Above”
