CHURCH COUNCIL REPORT
So, the Australian Federal Election is done, and we have a new government. Trent Zimmerman, who has been a very supportive local member has been replaced by Kylea Tink. On the week leading to the election our notice board spoke to everyone – Pray then vote! Then pray again – for the new government. Our hall was a polling place and was very popular. Thanks to all those who made cakes and slices and jam to those who served. We made $1650 on the day so it was definitely worthwhile.

We will celebrate Pentecost on Sunday 5 June. Unfortunately, this year again we will not have our traditional Combined Pentecost Service with St. Aidan’s. Hopefully next year!
I tuned in to the SCC Presbytery meeting last week. The Life and Witness consultation has been completed, we have still to receive the results. There is a new L & W team. We will share the results with you when they arrive.
During Lent those who attended the worship service were given a booklet ‘Planning your Funeral’. If you didn’t receive a copy, please ask Krikor for one.
At our interim congregation meeting on Sunday February 27, there was a majority decision to continue supporting the Demirchian family in Artsakh. Our target of $3,000 will be easily reached with a donation of $120 each. This can be done in instalments.
During the month of June, we will be collecting nonperishable food and vouchers for the Exodus Foundation. The number of people needing help to put food on their table has dramatically increased and electricity prices are predicted to soar. Please give what you can.
Krikor is planning some annual leave shortly, to go to Armenia for a big church celebration. While there, he will try and catch up with the Demirchian family in Artsakh. We will worship at St. Columba’s on 26 June having a Combined Service, with Communion, celebrating UCA 45th Anniversary and the following week, Sunday 3 July, 10:00 am, we will join Crows Nest for worship.
Here’s to a holiday for everyone!

MOTHER’S DAY LUNCH

How good it was to sit around the one table with twenty-two friends on Sunday 1st May and celebrate Mother’s Day a week early on a bright sunny day after so much rain.
Krikor had attended to the catering and as usual we were well fed on delicious Armenian food.
‘Mother’s Day Goody Bags’ – one for each lady, Krikor had also arranged containing amongst other things ‘Choko Chutney’ made by Dee from home grown chokos.
There were special gifts for the youngest and the oldest mum at the gathering. Ivy Lee and Heather Astle were the recipients.
The lucky mother was Virginia Knowles, and her gift was a beautiful table clock, donated by Vahe Tomassian of ‘Good Times Watchmaker’ in St. Ives. Drawn by Bruce West.
A good time was had by All.
SENIOR MOMENTS
Reporters interviewing a 104-year-old woman:
“And what do you think is the best thing about being 104?” She simply replied, “No peer pressure”.
It’s scary when you start making the same noises as your coffee maker.
Don’t let aging get you down. It’s too hard to get back up!
Remember: You don’t stop laughing because you grow old,
You grow old because you stop laughing.
Happy Birthday to Heather Astle, who turns 90 on June 13.
