CALL TO WORSHIP

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.

Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story – those He redeemed from the hand of the foe, those He gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south.

Some became fools through their rebellious ways and suffered affliction because of their iniquities. They loathed all food and drew near the gates of death. Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress. He sent forth His word and healed them; He rescued them from the grave.

Let them give thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for mankind.

Let them sacrifice thank offerings and tell of His works with songs of joy.

                                                                                         (Psalm 107:1-3, 17-22)

PSALTER

O God, You are my God, I seek You, my soul thirsts for You; my flesh faints for You, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

I have looked upon You in the sanctuary, beholding Your power and glory.

Because Your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise You.

I will bless You as long as I live; I will lift up my hands and call on Your name.

My soul is satisfied as with a rich feast, and my mouth praises You with joyful lips when I think of You on my bed, and meditate on You in the watches of the night;

For You have been my help, and in the shadow of Your wings I sing for joy. My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Gracious God, doubt can be so troubling to us. Forgive us when we have failed to understand another’s doubt and given them a safe place to share it. Forgive us when we have failed to allow another person to work through their doubt and so grow stronger. Forgive us, God, when we have made doubt a destination and have become complacent in seeking Your presence, Your will, and Your way for our lives. Lord, we believe. Help our unbelief. In the name of Jesus we ask this. Amen!

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

Hear the Good News! Our mighty God is far more willing and able to forgive than we are to ask. When we turn to God, He hears our prayers and forgives us. This is God’s amazing gift of grace. Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

Father, we pray for the holy catholic Church;

            that we all may be one.

Grant that every member of the Church may truly and humbly serve You;

            that Your name may be glorified by all people.

We pray for all ministers of the gospel;

            that they may faithfully proclaim Your Word and administer

            Your holy sacraments.

We pray for all who govern and hold authority in the world;

            that there may be justice and peace on the earth.

Give us grace to do Your will in all that we undertake;

            that our works may find favour in Your sight.

Have compassion on those who suffer from any grief or trouble;

            that they may be delivered from their distress.

We praise You for Your saints who have entered into joy;

            may we also come to share in Your heavenly kingdom.

Let us pray for our community, for the life and worship of this congregation, and for those whose needs are known to us.

Almighty God, You have given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplications to You; and You have promised, through Your well-beloved Son, that when two or three are gathered together in His name You will be in the midst of them.

Fulfil now, O Lord, our desires and petitions as may be best for us;

granting us in this world knowledge of Your truth, and in the age to come life everlasting. Amen!
