CALL TO WORSHIP

Praise the Lord, O my soul, all my inmost being, praise His holy name.

Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits – who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

The Lord works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.

The Lord has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all.

Praise the Lord, you His angels, you mighty ones who do His bidding, who obey His word.

Praise the Lord, all His heavenly hosts, you His servants who do His will.

Praise the Lord, all His works everywhere in His dominion.

Praise the Lord, O my soul.                                         Psalm 103:1-6 and 19-22

INVOCATION

We gather as Your people, O God, as we have done many times before. We ask that today be different. Electrify our spirits, transform our minds, and renew our energy. Fill us with the energy of Your love that we might go about the work of transforming the world in the name of Jesus. Amen!

HYMN:       142       “Glory be to God the Father

A GENERAL THANKSGIVING

Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we, Your unworthy servants, do give You most humble and hearty thanks for all Your goodness and loving-kindness to us, and to all men.

We bless You for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all, for Your inestimable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory. And, we beseech You, give us that due sense of all Your mercies, that our hearts may be sincerely thankful; and that we show forth Your praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up ourselves to Your service, and by walking before You in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with You and the Holy Spirit, be all honour and glory, world without end. Amen!

CONFESSION

Heavenly Father, we come in prayer as Your people, to ask You to forgive us for having such divided hearts. We draw near to You only occasionally and often for our own concerns — not in true devotion to You. Our decisions are so often forgetful of You and just based on self-interest. You know what we are like better than we do ourselves and we ask You to forgive us and help us. Wash away the sins we have committed and cause Your Spirit to fill and rule our hearts. Thank You for Jesus our Saviour and for the Spirit our Life-giver — make us people who love and serve You as You desire. In the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen!

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

If anyone sins, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and He is the perfect offering for our sins, and not for ours only, but also the sins of the whole world.”

Thanks be to God.

HYMN:        415      “Praise the Spirit in Creation

TIME TO PRAY

In silence please offer your prayers to the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus.

THE LORD’S PRAYER

SONG:                                 In His Time

A COLLECT OF PEACE

O God, from whom all holy desires, all good counsels, and all just works proceed, give to Your servants that peace which the world cannot give; that our hearts may be set to obey Your commandments, and also that by You, we, being defended from fear of our enemies, may pass our time in rest and quietness; through the merits of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

THE PEACE

God’s Spirit has given us life. Let us follow the Spirit, and greet one another with the life-giving peace of Jesus Christ.

The peace of the Christ be with you all. And also with you.

(You may like to exchange a sign of peace with those around you.)

A PRAYER BEFORE READING THE SCRIPTURES

Blessed Lord, who hast caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning: grant that we may in such wisdom hear them, read, mark, learn and inwardly digest them, that by practice, and comfort of Your holy Word, we may embrace, and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which thou hast given us in our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen!                         (Book of Common Prayer 1662)
