CALL TO WORSHIP

May God be gracious to us and bless us and make His face shine upon us, that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.

May the peoples praise You, O God; may all the peoples praise You.

May the nations be glad and sing for joy, for You rule the peoples justly and guide the nations of the earth.

May the peoples praise You, O God; may all the peoples praise You.

Then the land will yield its harvest, and God, our God, will bless us.

God will bless us, and all the ends of the earth will fear Him.      Psalm 67

HYMN:       111       “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty

A PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

Lord, we thank You for the splendour with which You have filled all creation; for the extent of the universe, which defies our understanding; and for the beauty of our world, which is greater than our words to describe it. We praise You for the place you’ve given us in Your creation. We give You thanks for all You have done for us. Amen!

SONG – GREAT IS THE LORD

INVITATION TO REPENTANCE

Lord Jesus Christ, when our words and actions reflect a reluctance to confess You publicly as Lord of our lives:   Forgive us.

When we fear that humbling ourselves would be seen by others as weakness, or defect in our character:  Forgive us.

When we have betrayed Your love for us through our lack of love for You, for others, and for ourselves:  Forgive us.

When we find ourselves disregarding the events of Your passion and death because we looked to Easter as a time of holidays:   Forgive us.

Silence

Lord Jesus Christ, fix Your mind in us:

remake us in Your likeness;

empty us of all that hinders us from following You

to where pain and suffering, exploitation and injustice exist.

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

Who, being in the very natureGod, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made Himself nothing, taking the very natureof a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death – even death on a cross! Therefore, God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess, that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Through His obedience we are freed from whatever sin enslaves us.

Thanks be to God.

THANKSGIVING

Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord our God.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right for us to give thanks. It is our joy and our peace, at all times and in all places, to give thanks to You, holy Father, Almighty, Everlasting God, through Christ our Lord.

We bless You for Your continual love and care for every creature. We praise You for forming us in Your image and calling us to be Your people. We thank You that You did not abandon us in our rebellion against Your love but sent prophets and teachers to lead us into the way of salvation. Above all we thank You for sending Jesus Your son to deliver us from the way of sin and death by the obedience of His life, by His suffering upon the cross, and by His resurrection from the dead. We praise You that He now reigns with You in glory and ever lives to pray for us. We thank You for the Holy Spirit, who leads us into truth, defends us in adversity, and out of every people unites us into one holy church. Therefore, with the whole company of saints in heaven and on earth we worship and glorify You, God most holy, and we sing with joy.
