CALL TO WORSHIP

Come near to God, and He will come near to you.” (James 4:8)

May all the barriers between God and ourselves be removed. Let us open our spirits to the Spirit of God and discover the power and peace of God surging within us.

“Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise.” (Psalm 48:1a)

Therefore, let us joyously unite together as we sing, pray, listen to God’s word and share with God and one another.

HYMN:       132       “Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty

MORNING PRAYER

O Lord, Yours is the day and Yours is the night; You have perfected the light and the sun; You have made all good things of the earth, and we ask You: cause Your rich mercies to rise on our lowliness, together with the daylight. Free us from the darkness and the shadow of death and from every evil thought and device of the devil. For Yours it is to have mercy and to save us, O God, and to You we send up glory, to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and forever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.                                                                            (Basil of Caesarea c. 330-379)

SONG:                 “We Sing of Your Glory

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Gracious God, our sins are too heavy to carry, too real to hide, and too deep to undo. Forgive what our lips tremble to name, what our hearts can no longer bear, and what has become for us a consuming fire of judgment. Set us free from a past that we cannot change; open to us a future in which we can be changed; and grant us grace to grow more and more in Your likeness and image, through Jesus Christ, the light of the world. Amen!

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

freely in our turn and so have the pleasure of giving.

PRAYER

God, You have given each of us gifts to use as members of the body of Christ. Here are our gifts – the work of our hands, our hearts, and our lives. We pray that they may help to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to our world, today and always, here and everywhere. Amen!

THE LORD’S SUPPER

The peace of the Lord be with you.

And also with you.

Christ our Lord invites to His table all who love Him, who earnestly repent of their sin and seek to live in peace with one another.

HYMN:       714       “Eat this Bread, Drink this Cup

PRAYER

Be present, risen Lord Jesus, as You were with Your disciples, and make Yourself known to us in the breaking of the bread; for You live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen!

MEMORIAL PRAYER

Holy God, with this bread and with this cup, we do as our Saviour has commanded; we celebrate the redemption He has won for us.

For as often as we eat this bread and drink from this cup, we proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.

Receive our praise, God almighty, through Jesus Christ our Lord, with whom and in whom by the power of the Holy Spirit, we worship You in songs of never-ending praise:

Blessing, honour, glory and power are yours forever and ever. Amen!

BREAKING THE BREAD – SERVING THE BREAD & THE CUP

We break this bread and take this cup so that we can share in the life of Christ. God’s gifts for God’s people. Take in faith this Holy Sacrament of the body and the blood of Christ in remembrance that He died for you, and feed on Him in your hearts with thanksgiving.

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION

You have opened to us the Scriptures, O Christ, and You have made yourself known in the breaking of the bread. Abide with us, we pray, that, blessed by Your royal presence, we may walk with You all the days of our life, and at its end behold You in glory of the eternal Trinity, one God for ever and ever. Amen!
