CALL TO WORSHIP

We come, bring concerns and joys, gathering in faith, finding kindred spirits ….

“Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.”

We come, bringing ideas and accomplishments to encounter and be encountered in the kingship of the Holy Spirit.

“Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.”

We worship Jesus Christ

and claim our place in God’s kingdom!

LIGHTING OF THE CHRIST CANDLE

Light flickers and shines to offer us glimpses of a new society, a new understanding of heaven here on earth. Let us honour the Light! Amen!

HYMN:       215       “You Servants of God”  (Tune of 133 – Hanover)

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Lord, we thank You for the love, power and mercy that have brought us to this moment in our lives and our life together.

We confess that we have not always wanted the best for each other or for those around us.

Jesus, Lord of the world, forgive us.

We confess that we have too often and too easily pleased ourselves and put our own wants and needs before those of others.

Jesus, Lord of the world, forgive us.

We confess that we have memories of the past that still hurt us, that we do not always find it easy to cope with what is happening today, and that tomorrow’s uncertainty sometimes makes us afraid.

Jesus, Lord of the world, forgive us.

Lord we ask not only for forgiveness, but for the desire and strength to begin again.

Jesus, Lord of the world, forgive us. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

The good news in Christ is that when we face ourselves and God with the awareness of our need, we are given grace to grow, and courage to carry on the journey.

Friends, believe the good news of the gospel.

In Jesus Christ we are forgiven! Amen.

PRAYER – For the Knowledge of God’s Will

Almighty and everlasting God, in whom we live and move and have our being, who hast created us for Thyself, so that we can find rest only in thee; grant unto us such purity of heart and strength of purpose, that no selfish passion may hinder us from knowing thy will, no weakness from doing it; but in thy light we may see light clearly, and in Thy service find perfect freedom; for Jesus Christ’s sake. Amen!

SACRAMENT OF FAITH – Jesus Christ Is Lord

We believe in Christ Jesus, who, though He was in the form of God,

did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,

but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant,

being born in human likeness.

And being found in human form He humbled Himself

and became obedient to death, even on a cross.

Therefore, God has highly exalted Him

and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,

that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess to the glory of God: Jesus Christ is Lord! Amen! Philippians 2:5-11
