CALL TO WORSHIP

Welcome to worship! “Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised,” said the psalmist (48:1). Therefore, let us joyously unite together as we sing, pray, listen to God’s word and share with God and one another.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

Let us sing of the beauty around us!

Let us sing of the beauty within!

O hear the earth tell that all shall be well!

All shall be well. In our bliss, in our sorrow, in the sun and in the

rain, all shall be well.

INVOCATION

Put Your music in our soul, O Lord. If we have lost our song, help us find it. If our joy has dried up, water us with the lyrics of Your love. If our voices are flat, enliven us with the energy of life. O Lord, receive this act of worship and praise, to the glory and honour of Your name.

The Lord is in His holy temple; let all the earth be silent before Him.”

(Habakkuk 2:20)                                                                                            Silence

How lovely is Your dwelling place, O Lord Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.” (Psalm 84:1-2)             Silence

Glory and majesty surrounds You, power and joy fill Your temple . . .”

Praise the Lord, all people on earth, praise His glory and might. Praise the Lord’s glorious name; bring offering and come into His temple:

Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.” (1 Chron. 16:28-29)                 Silence

HYMN:       127       “Holy God, We Praise Your Name

A PRAYER OF PRAISE

Glory to God in the highest, and peace to God’s people on earth.

Lord God, heavenly King, almighty God and Father, we worship You, we give You thanks, we praise You for Your glory.

Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father, Lord God, Lamb of God, You take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us: You are seated at the right hand of the Father: receive our prayer.

For You alone are the Holy One, You alone are the Lord, You alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen!

DRAWING NEAR TO GOD

We have come to meet with God and to take our part in the building of His church. Christ Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live for righteousness; by His wounds we have been healed. Let us acknowledge our failure to serve Him as He deserves, and return to the Lord with repentance and faith, praying together,

Heavenly Father You have loved us with an everlasting love, but we have often gone our own way, and rejected Your will for our lives. We are sorry for our sins and turn away from them. For the sake of Your Son who died for us, forgive us, cleanse us, and change us to live for You, and to please You in every way, for the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Let’s ask God to forgive our sins, correct our faults and cleanse our souls so that we can honour God, our family and our friends in a better way.

God our Father, we have sinned against You in thought, word and deed; we have not loved others as ourselves. We ask You to have mercy on us, cleanse us from all our sins and help us overcome all our faults, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen!

Almighty God, who has promised forgiveness to all who turn to Him in faith, pardon us and set us free from all sin, strengthen us to do His will and keep us in eternal life, through Christ our Lord. Amen!

DECLARATION OF FORGIVENESS

If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Hear then Christ’s word of grace to us:  Your sins are forgiven.

Thanks be to God.

THE LORD’S PRAYER

PRAYER OF INTERCESSION

Loving Father, who gives life to all, we trust to Your keeping those who have died during the stabbings in Sydney.  Lord, hear us.

Lord, hear our prayer.

We pray for all who suffer from the effects of war; grant them Your peace and healing strength; and for those who in sadness recall lives lost; grant them comfort in the hope of resurrection.  Lord, hear us.

Lord, hear our prayer.

May we be inspired by the determination of those who have served in the fight for freedom, justice and peace.  Lord, hear us.

Lord, hear our prayer.

Loving Father, have mercy on our broken and divided world. Give Your Spirit of peace to all people and remove from them the spirit that makes for war, that all may live as members of Your family.  Lord, hear us.

Lord, hear our prayer in Jesus’ name. Amen!
