CALL TO WORSHIP

Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song. For the Lord is a great God, the great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him. The sea is His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land.

Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, the flock under His care.                          (Psalm 95:1-7)

“Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name; make known among the nations what He has done.

Sing to Him, sing praise to Him; tell of all His wonderful acts.

Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.

Look to the Lord and His strength; seek His face always.”     Psalm 105:1-4

PRAYER – For the Knowledge of God’s Will

Almighty and everlasting God, in whom we live and move and have our being, who hast created us for Yourself, so that we can find rest only in thee; grant unto us such purity of heart and strength of purpose, that no selfish passion may hinder us from knowing Your will, no weakness from doing it; but in Your light we may see light clearly, and in Your service find perfect freedom; for Jesus Christ’s sake. Amen.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Lord, we thank You for the love, power and mercy that have brought us to this moment in our lives and our life together.

We confess that we have not always wanted the best for each other or for those around us.

Jesus, Lord of the world, forgive us.

We confess that we have too often and too easily pleased ourselves and put our own wants and needs before those of others.

Jesus, Lord of the world, forgive us.

We confess that we have memories of the past that still hurt us, that we do not always find it easy to cope with what is happening today, and that tomorrow’s uncertainty sometimes makes us afraid.

Jesus, Lord of the world, forgive us.

Lord we ask not only for forgiveness, but for the desire and strength to begin again.

Jesus, Lord of the world, forgive us. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

The good news in Christ is that when we face ourselves and God with the awareness of our need, we are given grace to grow, and courage to carry on the journey.

Friends, believe the good news of the gospel.

In Jesus Christ we are forgiven! Amen.

HYMN:       47       “Our God, Our Help in Ages Past

SEEKING GOD

Lord, I seek You with all my heart, with all the strength You have given me. I long to understand that which I believe. You are my only hope; please listen to me. Do not let my weariness lessen my desire to find You, to see Your face. You created me in in order to find You; You gave me strength to seek You. My strength and my weakness are in Your hands; preserve my strength, and help my weaknesses. Where You have already opened the door; let me come in; where it is shut, open at my knocking. Let me always remember You, love You, meditate upon You, and pray to You, until You restore me to Your perfect pattern.    (Augustine of Hippo 354 – 430)

SACRAMENT OF FAITH  –  Jesus Christ Is Lord

We believe in Christ Jesus, who, though He was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant, being born in human likeness.

And being found in human form, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death, even on a cross.

Therefore, God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess to the glory of God: Jesus Christ is Lord! Amen.                   Philippians 2:5-11
