In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen!

Let us come together and worship the Lord with thankful hearts.

OPENING HYMN:       592       “Stand Up Stand Up for Jesus

CALL TO WORSHIP

Great and marvellous are Your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are Your ways, King of ages.

Who will not fear You, O Lord, and bring glory to Your name?

For You alone are holy.

All nations will come and worship before You, for Your righteous acts have been revealed.

To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honour, and glory and power, for ever and ever. Amen!                                                                                 Revelation 15:3-4, 5:13

A PRAYER OF PRAISE

Glory be to You, O Holy God, You who are love and justice.

We praise You for the gifts You have made in creating the world and human beings in Your likeness.

We praise You for opening up for us a new way of life in Jesus Christ.

We praise You for calling us, through the Holy Spirit, to follow Jesus Christ and to seek to bring justice for all. Amen.                                                                            (Women’s WDP, 1990)

PSALTER READING              Psalm 84                                    Pages 584

HYMN:       139       “O Love of God, How Strong and True

GLORY TO GOD IN THE HIGHEST

Glory to God in the highest, and peace to God’s people on earth.

Lord God, heavenly King, almighty God and Father, we worship You, we give You thanks, we praise You for Your glory.

Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father, Lord God, Lamb of God,

You take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us; You are seated at the right hand of the Father: receive our prayer.

For You alone are Holy One, You alone are Lord, You alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

O Lord, You who have measured the heights and the earth in the hollow of Your hand, and created six-winged seraphim to cry out to You with an unceasing voice, Holy, Holy, Holy, glory to Your name.

Deliver me, from the mouth of the evil one, O Master. Forget my many evil deeds and through the multitude of Your compassions grant me daily forgiveness, for You are blessed unto the ages. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

The good news in Christ is that when we face ourselves and God with the awareness of our need, we are given grace to grow, and courage to carry on the journey. Friends, believe the good news of the gospel.

In Jesus Christ we are forgiven! Amen.

A PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

Father, we thank You for the joy of life and for the wonderful world in which You have placed us; for all those whom You have given us to share our journey through life – for colleagues at work, for friends at church or at school, for those with whom we have shared precious moments, and for those who were there when we needed them.

We thank You for the laughter and for tears, for seeing and for listening, for thinking and doing, and for just being alive.

Father, we thank You for the words and deeds of those who have changed life for other people; those who have brought the word hope to those who are broken, the message of love to those who are down; those who have spoken words of forgiveness to those who were wrong, and whose lives have brought encouragement to those without joy.

Thank You for those who warn others of danger and to those who declare the good news of Christ.

Father, we thank You for the whole life and ministry of Jesus which gives us hope and for the promise of the Holy Spirit, who gives us new life. We bring our thanks in Christ’s name. Amen.

HYMN:       717       “Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart

THE APOSTLES’ CREED   (Standing)

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried;

he descended to the dead.

On the third day He rose again; He ascended into heaven,

He is seated at the right hand of the Father,

and He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting. Amen.
