CALL TO WORSHIP

Great and marvellous are Your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are Your ways, King of ages.

Who will not fear You, O Lord, and bring glory to Your name?

For You alone are holy.

All nations will come and worship before You, for your righteous acts have been revealed.

To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honour, and glory and power, for ever and ever. Amen!                                                                           Revelation 15:3-4, 5:13

PRAYER

Eternal God, the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, we have gathered in this time and at this place to worship you. In Your time, You created all things, and entwined into their fabric a yearning for fulfilment in You. It is this yearning within us which has pulled us here this morning. Take these moments, O Lord, of time and space, and complete them in us, through Your Holy Spirit. May our labour bring forth a new creation in You. This is Your hour, Christ Jesus, help us to make the most of each precious moment. For in Your name, we have gathered, and we pray. Amen!

A PRAYER OF PRAISE

Glory be to You, O Holy God, You who are love and justice.

We praise You for the gifts You have made in creating the world and human beings in Your likeness.

We praise You for opening up for us a new way of life in Jesus Christ.

We praise Your for calling us, through the Holy Spirit, to follow Jesus Christ and to seek to bring justice for all. Amen!                                                                           (Women’s WDP, 1990)

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

O Lord, You who have measured the heights and the earth in the hollow of Your hand, and created six-winged seraphim to cry out to You with an unceasing voice, Holy, Holy, Holy, glory to Your name.

Deliver me, from the mouth of the evil one, O Master. Forget my many evil deeds and through the multitude of Your compassions grant me daily forgiveness, for You are blessed unto the ages. Amen!

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

The good news in Christ is that when we face ourselves and God with the awareness of our need, we are given grace to grow, and courage to carry on the journey.

Friends, believe the good news of the gospel.

In Jesus Christ we are forgiven! Amen!

THE APOSTLES’ CREED   (Standing)

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

     creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,

     who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

     born of the Virgin Mary,

     suffered under Pontius Pilate,

     was crucified, died, and was buried;

     he descended to the dead.

     On the third day he rose again;

     he ascended into heaven,

     he is seated at the right hand of the Father,

     and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

     the holy catholic Church,

     the communion of saints,

     the forgiveness of sins,

     the resurrection of the body,

     and the life everlasting. Amen.

Until we can see ourselves in the words we read and the stories we hear, it is easy to remark on the rest of the world. May the light of these words fall strongly upon each of us, that we can find the truth. Amen!
