CALL TO WORSHIP

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing. God chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before Him in love. Let us worship God.

PRAYER

O God, our Father, who with Your Son and the leaders of the past formed the church, that man might receive this heritage of faith and worship in each generation: grant that we may be aware of our responsibility to You and our fellow Christians; so guide us that we give of ourselves in service through Christ our Lord. Amen.

HYMN:       102       “Praise to the Living God

RESPONSIVE READING

Lord, You have been our dwelling place throughout all generations.

Before the mountains were born or You brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting You are God.

You turn men back to dust, saying, “Return to dust, O sons of men”.

For a thousand years in Your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night.

You sweep men away in the sleep of death; they are like new grass of the morning —

though in the morning it springs up new, by evening it is dry and withered.

Relent, O Lord! How long will it be? Have compassion on Your servants.

Satisfy us this morning with Your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

Make us glad for as many days as You have afflicted us, for as many years as we have seen trouble.

May Your deeds be shown to Your servants, Your splendour to their children.

May the favour of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us —

Yes, establish the work of our hands.

Psalm 90:1-6, 13-17

PRAYER

Eternal God, forever worshipped in heaven and on earth, may our worship today be a joyful offering to You.

As we draw near to You in praise and prayer and as Your gospel is proclaimed, may the sad or weary find comfort, the weak find strength, and the strong find confirmation and challenge.

May all be for your glory, O God, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

HYMN:       47       “Our God, Our Help in Ages Past

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

With all our heart and mind, let us pray to God, saying, “God of grace, be with us.”

In this time of confusion, grief, pain and loss, let us pray to God, God of grace, be with us.

That all those who serve You in all countries and all traditions may remember Your love, embrace Your forgiveness, and hold fast to Your hope. Let us pray to God, God of grace, be with us.

That the leaders of this nation and all others in authority, may be guided by Your wisdom, and find strength and courage to know and accomplish Your purposes in the midst of the evil of these days. Let us pray to God, God of grace, be with us.

That all peoples of the earth, especially those who suffer loss due to political or religious persecution or terrorism, or war may have the hope of healing. Let us pray to God, God of grace, be with us.

God whose vision spans all the ages of the earth, help us to see beyond this moment and to embrace the wider perspective of Your whole creation. Deliver us from hatred, cruelty, and revenge, and lead us into a way of love and justice that makes room for all peoples. Let us pray to God, God of grace, be with us.

HYMN:          “All to Jesus I Surrender

PRAYER FOR FORGIVNESS

Heavenly Father we ask for Your forgiveness for the sins and neglects of recent days. We have turned our back on You, said careless things and often done as we have pleased.

Thank You for the perfect life and saving death of Your Son Jesus. Please forgive our sins, assure our hearts and move us to walk in Your ways. We thank You for Your amazing mercy and grace that is greater than our needs. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

Hear the Good News! For the sake of the joy that lay ahead of Him. Jesus endured the cross, making light of its disgrace, and has taken His seat at the right hand of the throne of God, where He intercedes for us. Friends, believe the Good News. In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.
