CALL TO WORSHIP Isaiah 55:1-7
PRAYER We Come As We Are
Lord, we come as we are that we may be changed by Your grace.
We come with our emptiness that we may be filled.
We come with darkness, seeking Your light.
We come with weakness to receive Your strength.
We come with our brokenness that You may make us whole, Lord.
We come as we are that we may be changed by Your power.
We come with our worship to praise You forever.
We come with our words and our prayers, which we offer for Your glory.
Lord, we come as we are that we may be changed by Your grace.
Amen! (David Clowes)
HYMN: 147 “To God be the Glory”
RESPONSIVE READING
We give thanks to You, O Lord, with our whole heart.
We will glorify Your name for ever.
Lord, Your Kingdom as a Mustard Seed grows through small devotions.
Take from us our inflated pride that we may regard with awe and wonder the small signs of its birth.
Grow Your Church into a place where all may find a spiritual home.
Lord, Your Kingdom like yeast in dough permeates through the entire world. Inspire all men and women to make a difference through their rendered various services.
Pour out Your transforming love.
Lord, Your Kingdom like treasure in a field excites our hearts at its discovery. Give us grace to share the blessings received, so advancing their value and worth for all.
Your gifts enrich us beyond measure.
Lord, Your Kingdom, like a pearl of great price, is our true heart’s desire. Fill the hearts of all who suffer with this delight in Your goodness.
We will sing Your praises and glory in Your name, O Lord.
Lord, Your Kingdom is like a net hauling in a great catch.
Bring us and all who have died into the safety of Your eternity.
At the end may Your holy angels lead us to paradise.
PRAYER – Seeking the Lord
O gracious and holy God, give us diligence to seek You, wisdom to perceive You, and patience to wait for You.
Grant us, O God, a mind to meditate on You; eyes to behold You; ears to listen for Your word; a heart to love You; and a life to proclaim You; through the power of the Spirit of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen!
(St. Benedict 480-543)
PRAISING GOD
Gracious God, we humbly thank You for all Your gifts so freely given to us, for life and health and safety, for power to work, leisure to rest, and for all that is beautiful in creation and human life. But, above all, we praise You for our Saviour, Jesus Christ, for His death and resurrection, for the gift of Your Spirit, and for the hope of sharing in Your glory. Fill our hearts with joy and peace in believing; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen!
HYMN: 584 (ii) “Just as I Am, Without One Plea”
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Almighty and merciful God, the fountain of goodness, You know the thoughts of our hearts: we confess that we have sinned against You and done what is evil in Your sight. Wash us from the stains of our past sins and give us grace and power to put away all hurtful things, so that, being delivered from the bondage of sin, we may bring forth fruits worthy of repentance.
O eternal Light, shine into our hearts; eternal Goodness, deliver us from evil;
O eternal Power, give us your strength; eternal Wisdom, scatter the darkness of our ignorance;
O eternal Pity, have mercy on us.
Grant that with all our hearts, and minds, and strength we may seek Your face; and finally, in Your infinite mercy, bring us to Your holy presence.
Strengthen our weakness that, following in the footsteps of Your blessed Son, we may obtain Your mercy, and enter into Your promised joy. Amen!
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
“If anyone sins, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and he is the perfect offering for our sins and not for ours only, but also the sins of the whole world.”
Hear then Christ’s word of grace: ‘Your sins are forgiven’.
Thanks be to God.
THE PEACE
God’s Spirit has given us life. Let us follow the Spirit and greet one another with the life-giving peace of Jesus Christ.
The peace of the risen Christ be with you all. And also with you.
(You may like to exchange a sign of peace with those around you.)
