CALL TO WORSHIP

Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy.

How awesome is the Lord Most High, the great King over the earth! He subdued nations under us, peoples under our feet.

He chose our inheritance for us, the pride of Jacob, whom He loved. God has ascended amid shouts of joy, the Lord amid the sounding trumpets.

Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises.

For God is the King of the earth; sing to Him a psalm of praise. (Psalm 47:1-7)

PSALTER

O come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into His presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to Him with songs of praise! For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.                                                    (Psalm 95:1-3)

Sing to the Lord, all the earth!

Sing to the Lord, bless His name; tell of His salvation from day to day.

I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together!

(Psalm 34:1-3)

FOR THE RENEWAL OF OUR HEARTS

Instruct our mouths, O Lord, with a new song; that, our hearts being renewed, we may always rejoice in Your praise and in the company of Your saints, O God, our Strength and our Redeemer. Amen!

HYMN:       134       “Praise, My Soul, the King Of Heaven

PRAYER

We come to celebrate Christ’s ascension, our Father. We remember that His physical removal from earth made possible the coming of the Holy Spirit who is our companion at all times and in all places. We glorify God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit. One God, in three manifestations. Therefore, we thank You, God, that You are ever-present and ever blessing us. In Christ’s name. Amen!

What a wondrous time is this season of life! There is so much joy and beauty in the world around us. Let us not be stuck in the darkness. Let us be a people of light. Let us not be pulled down by troubles.

Let us be a people of light. Let our hearts be filled with gladness at the gift of life that knows no end. Let us be a people of light. It is the light of Christ that opens tombs, brightens lives, and redeems souls. Amen!

HYMN:       517       “Hallelujah! Sing to Jesus

CONVOCATION

In every beginning, in every moment, God may surprise us with new possibilities, new courage and wisdom and new dimensions of faith.

This is our God, Creator, Christ and Holy Spirit.

Let us be the people of God this day.

HYMN:       103       “A Mighty Fortress is Our God

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

And now, defeated on all fronts and completely forsaken, like a feeble cripple, I am rejected; I am banished that I might perish. Worn down by multitude of blows, I was captured by death and deprived of grace. I seek mercy with a shameful face. I, who have committed all manner of sin, pray for all the dead living in You. For You are able, with infinite ingenuity, to save dying mortals like me. For You everything is possible. Especially since You have power that knows no limits, and You take delight in exercising Your will for good. Therefore, when these two illustrious and renewing graces come together – power and will – the despair that afflicts the race of sinners is lifted away and the light of Your good news arrives with Your prescription to heal our souls, Lord of all, blessed forever. Amen!

(St. Grigor Narekatsi)

Father God, creator and sustainer, we pray forgive us.

DECLARATION OF FORGIVENESS

The rock of God’s faithfulness never fails us, the forgiveness of Jesus Christ comes in grace upon grace and the Holy Spirit will lift up our life.

Let us choose to live abundantly! Amen!

The saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.

INTERCESSION

Loving God, take all that we do and give to it the grandeur of Your will, the wonder of Christ’s abundant life and the truth and power of Your Holy Spirit.

Carry our life into the world which You so love, that we may be part of the bringing in Your reign, witnesses to Your justice and peace and friends to all who long for love. This we pray in Your name. Amen.
