CALL TO WORSHIP

We gather in the name of the Maker;

Who lit up the world and breathed the breath of life into us.

We gather in the name of the Son;

Who saved the world and stretched out His hand to us.

We gather in the name of the Spirit;

Who encompasses the world and blesses our souls with yearning.

We gather in the name of the Trinity of love;

God above us, God beside us, God beneath us; the beginning, the end, the everlasting One.

As disciples of Christ – We are learners, together.

As disciples of Christ – We are people on the Way.

As disciples of Christ – We care for one another.

As disciples of Christ – We serve, we share, we pray.

In this time together, may God’s presence transform us.

In this time together, may God’s presence transform the world!

OPENING PRAYER

However desperate we feel, however grim the challenges, Your Spirit, O God, lifts us up. The tide of Your grace surges among us. You are Lord of our life, constant in compassion, full of surprises. Refresh us, restore us, renew our commitment to You and to the Way of Jesus, through whom we pray. Amen!

I give thanks to You, O Lord, with my whole heart ….

Generous God, Your love bids us welcome. Give Your Church an open heart ….

Unite Your gathered people into a true fellowship with Your Son.

Generous God, Your Son gave a model of simple charity. Transform our governance with such willing compassion . . .

May the hungry find food shared and the thirsty be revived.

Generous God, break down the barriers that divide communities and increase hostilities. Extend the hands of friendship to soften hardened hearts . . .

Remove all that diminishes people’s worth.

Generous God, pour out Your love and compassion on all who cry ‘How long, O Lord’ . . .

Shine Your light into the darkness.

Generous God, receive with mercy and forgiveness all who have died . . .

Comfort those who grieve and bring us to share in the reward of the righteous.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Gift-giving God, we confess that we do not always know our own worth, that we can forget our capacity for greatness and squander opportunities for righteousness. You offer us gifts for service in Your world, and yet we can neglect Your gifts, store them away in the closet, shove them under the stairs, and give away to others the gifts You have chosen especially for us. May we have wisdom to know our gifts, courage to open them up, and dedication to use them for Your glory. Amen!

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

The good news in Christ is that when we face ourselves and God with the awareness of our need, we are given grace to grow, and courage to carry on the journey. Friends, believe the good news of the gospel.

In Jesus Christ we are forgiven! Amen!

In silence, please offer your prayers to the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus.

• Please remember in your Prayers:
• The sick. Especially Virginia, Robyn, Juliana and those who are not well physically or emotionally.
• Refugees, victims of disasters, abuse and war.
• World peace: especially the Middle East, Palestine and Israel.

THE LORD’S PRAYER

HEARING GOD’S WORD

Thank You, Father, for making Yourself known to us and showing us the way of salvation through faith in Your Son. Teach us through Your word and equip us for every good work, for the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!

The blessing of God almighty, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, be upon you and remain with you always. Amen!
