CALL TO WORSHIP

Shout with joy to God, all the earth! Sing the glory of His name; make His praise glorious! Say to God, “How awesome are Your deeds! So great is Your power that Your enemies cringe before You. All the earth bows down to You; they sing praise to You, they sing praise to Your name.”

Praise our God. O peoples, let the sound of His praise be heard; He has preserved our lives and kept our feet from slipping.                                                                           (Psalm 66:1-4, 8-9)

HYMN:       362       “Jesus Christ Is Risen Today

A LITANY FOR EASTER

In joy and hope let us pray to the source of all life saying:

Hear us, Lord of glory!

That our risen Saviour may fill us with the joy of His holy and life-giving resurrection, let us pray to the Lord.

     Hear us, Lord of glory!

That isolated and persecuted churches may find fresh strength in the Easter gospel, let us pray to the Lord.

     Hear us, Lord of glory!

That He may grant us humility to be subject to one another in Christian love, let us pray to the Lord.

     Hear us, Lord of glory!

That He may provide for those who lack food, work, or shelter, let us pray to the Lord.

     Hear us, Lord of glory!

That by His power wars and famine may cease through all the earth, let us pray to the Lord.

     Hear us, Lord of glory!

That He may reveal the light of His presence to the sick, the weak, and the dying, that they may be comforted and strengthened, let us pray to the Lord.

     Hear us, Lord of glory!

That He may send the fire of the Holy Spirit upon His people, that we may bear faithful witness to His resurrection, let us pray to the Lord.

     Hear us, Lord of glory!

PRAYER

Loving God, You have always shown us the way from darkness into the light. For those struggling now to see the light, we ask that You shine it a bit brighter in our world. Grant us all the grace to see a way forward through the present darkness. Amen.

THE INVITATION

Dear friends, the Lord has prepared His table for all who love Him and trust Him alone for their salvation. All who are truly sorry for their sins, who sincerely believe in the Lord Jesus as their Saviour, and who desire to live in obedience to Him, are now invited to take with gladness from the table of the Lord.

THANKSGIVING

The Lord be with you.  And also with you.

Lift up your hearts.   We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right to give our thanks and praise.

HYMN:       351       “Lift High the Cross

WORDS OF CONSECRATION

On the night of His betrayal, Jesus took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and gave it to His disciples, saying, “Take, eat, this is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me”.

In like manner, after supper He took the cup. And when He had given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink of this, for this is My blood of the New Covenant which is shed for you and for many, for remission of sins; do this as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me”.

PRAYER

Father, we thank You that You feed us in these holy mysteries with the spiritual food of the body and blood of our Saviour Jesus Christ.

We thank You for the assurance of Your goodness and love, and that we are living members of His body and heirs of His eternal kingdom.

May the Holy Spirit be upon us now, that as we receive this bread and cup we may know the presence and power of Christ our Lord. Amen.

LAMB OF GOD

Jesus, Lamb of God, have mercy on us.

Jesus, bearer of our sins, have mercy on us.

Jesus, redeemer of the world, have mercy on us.

COMMUNION

Eternal God, let Your Spirit come upon Your holy people, and may He sanctify these gifts of bread and wine.

As we share these holy things, may we be nourished and grow in grace to your honour and glory, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

BREAKING THE BREAD

We break this bread and take this cup so that we can share in the life of Christ. God’s gifts for God’s people.
