CALL TO WORSHIP
May the glory of God be with you all:
God the Creator, Redeemer, Comforter;
God who is Love, Passion and Promise;
God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, be with you all.
We give thanks to You, O Lord, with our whole heart, we glorify Your name.
It is good to give thanks to the Lord. We will sing praises to our God.
Sing to the Lord a new song. Sing to the Lord, all the earth.
HYMN: 132 “Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty”
OPENING PRAYER
Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hidden: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiring of Your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love You, and worthily magnify Your holy name; through Christ our Lord. Amen.
PSALTER – Psalm 8
O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth!
You have set Your glory above the heavens.
From the lips of children and infants You have ordained praise because of Your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.
When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place, what is man that You are mindful of him, the son of man that You care for him?
You have made him a little lower than the angels and crowned him with glory and honour.
You made him ruler over the works of Your hands; You put everything under His feet: all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the fields, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.
O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth!
HYMN: 131 “Father of Heaven Whose Love Profound”
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Help us in our need, Father of us all, for we are at loggerheads with You and at odds with creation, our neighbours and ourselves.
In a world whose web of life is intricate and beautiful,
Save us, Lord, from carelessness and wanton destruction.
In a world of nations of people poor, confused and afraid,
Save us, Lord, from faithless, selfish humanity.
In a world where shines the image and the glory of God,
Save us, Lord, from being blind, deaf and cold-hearted to any one of Your children.
WORDS OF ASSURANCE
Hear the good news: In the power of the Spirit of Jesus, passionate as fire, gentle as a dove, our hearts are cleansed, our guilt forgotten, our sins are forgiven. Thanks be to God.
THE PEACE
The peace of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, be with you all.
And also with you.
TIME TO PRAY
In silence please offer your prayers to the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus.
Pray for the world pandemic, pray for the needy and pray for America.
THE LORD’S PRAYER
HYMN: 101 “Come, You People, Come Adore Him”
BIBLE READINGS –
Gen. 1:1-2:4a (Pages 1-2) Matt. 28:16-20 (Page 989)
2 Cor. 13:11-13 (Page 1150)
SERMON: “The Triune God”
HYMN: 140 “Firmly I Believe and Truly”
PRAYER – Said in unison
Eternal Trinity, You are a deep sea, into which the deeper I dive, the more I find, and the more I find the more I seek. The soul ever hungers in the depths of Your mystery, Eternal Trinity, longing to see You with the light of Your light, and as the deer yearns for springs of living water, so my soul yearns to see You in truth. Catherine of Siena (1347-1380)
OFFERING – “Honour the Lord with your wealth”. Proverbs 3:9
HYMN: 650 “Brother, Sister, Let Me Serve You”
THE SACRAMENT OF THE LORD’S SUPPER
At the heart of the Christian life is active trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and His sacrificial death for sin.
In this symbolic meal, originated from Jesus’ Last Supper with His disciples, we express and strengthen our trust in Him, as we eat and drink with our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Come then with heartfelt repentance and genuine trust in the Lord Jesus, recognising the significance of sharing in this way.
PRAYER
We do not presume to come to Your table, merciful Lord, trusting in our righteousness, but in Your boundless goodness and mercy. We are not even worthy to eat the crumbs under Your table, but You are the same Lord, always rich in mercy. Enable us by faith to eat the flesh of Your dear Son Jesus Christ, and to drink His blood, that we may be cleansed from sin and forever dwell in Him, and He in us. Amen.
Through Him, in Him and because of Him, we affirm the church’s faith:
Christ has died. Christ has risen. Christ will come again.
COMMUNION
Say a short prayer and take the bread and the cup in faith.
PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION
I bow before the Father, who made me. I bow before the Son, who saved me. I bow before the Spirit, who guides me. In love and adoration, I give my lips, I give my heart, I give my mind and I give my strength. I bow down and adore Thee, Sacred Three, the ever One, the Trinity. Amen
HYMN: 478 “I Bind Unto Myself Today”
BENEDICTION
May the Holy God guide us in the pathways of truth,
Christ Jesus gather us into loving community as His Body
and the Spirit inspire us and call us on into joy. Amen.
