CALL TO WORSHIP
“Come near to God, and He will come near to you” (James 4:8).
May all the barriers between God and ourselves be removed. Let us open our spirits to the Spirit of God and discover the power and peace of God surging within us.
“Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise” (Psalm 48:1a).
Therefore, let us joyously unite together as we sing, pray, listen to God’s word and share with God and one another.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
HYMN: 204 “Come Let Us Join Our Cheerful Songs”
A PRAYER OF PRAISE
Worthy of praise from every mouth, of confession from every tongue, of worship from every creature, is Your glorious name, O Father, Son, and Holy Ghost: who did create the world in Your grace and by Your compassion did save the world. To Your majesty, O God, ten thousand times ten thousand bow down and adore, singing and praising without ceasing and saying,
Holy, holy, holy Lord God of hosts; Heaven and earth are full of Your praises; Hosanna in the highest. Nestorius (381-451)
RESPONSIVE READING Psalm 85 Page 584-585
SONG – HE IS EXALTED
He is exalted; the King is exalted on High.
I will praise Him.
He is exalted forever exalted and I will praise His name.
He is the Lord. Forever His truth shall reign.
Heaven and Earth rejoice in His holy name.
He is exalted, the King is exalted on high. (x3)
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer.
From the ends of the earth I call to You, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
For You have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe.
I long to dwell in Your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of Your wings.
For You have heard my vows, O God; You have given me the heritage of those who fear Your name. Amen! Psalm 61:1-5
PRAYER OF FORGIVENESS
O Lord, who hast mercy upon all, take away from me my sins, and mercifully kindle in me the fire of your Holy Spirit.
Take away from me the heart of stone, and give me a heart of flesh, a heart to love and adore you, a heart to delight in You, to follow and to enjoy You, for Christ’s sake. Amen! Ambrose of Milan (339-33-97)
HYMN: “I Know Whom I Have Believed”
PRAYER
Mighty God, in whom we know the power of redemption, You stand among us in the shadows of our time.
As we move through every sorrow and trial of this life, uphold us with knowledge of the final morning when, in the glorious presence of Your risen Son, we will share His resurrection, redeemed and restored to the fullness of life and forever freed to be Your people.
Creator of the universe, You made the world in beauty, and restore all things in glory through the victory of Jesus Christ.
We pray that, wherever Your image is still disfigured by poverty, sickness, selfishness, war and greed, the new creation in Jesus Christ may appear in justice, love, and peace, to the glory of Your name.
O God, Your Son remained with His disciples after His resurrection, teaching them to love all people as neighbours.
As His disciples in this age, we offer our prayers on behalf of the universe in which we are privileged to live and our neighbours with whom we share it.
Prayers of the people (in silence)
Open our hearts to Your power moving around us and between us and within us, until Your glory is revealed in our love of both friend and enemy, in communities transformed by justice and compassion, and in the healing of all that is broken. Amen!
Prayers of the people (in silence)
Guide us in the path of discipleship, so that as You have blessed us, we may be a blessing for others, bringing the promise of the kingdom near, by our words and deeds. Amen.
Prayers of the people (in silence)
Receive these prayers, O God, and transform us through them, that we may have eyes to see and hearts to understand not only what You do on our behalf, but what You call us to do so that Your realm will come to fruition in glory.
We pray in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We ask You, hear our prayers. Amen!
